Hello. I live in various places. I grew up in San Francisco and Bolinas. I'm a book critic at the New York Times and a contributing writer at the New York Times Magazine. I have also written for places like The Economist and n+1 and The Paris Review. Since 2018 I've had a books newsletter called Read Like the Wind. And more recently, a Substack about various things. I have a store with my husband Teddy. And I write zines! Love zines. In my spare time I make art projects, play ping-pong, frolic in the ocean, garden, and attempt to construct crosswords.
